The Beale Bugle

October 29, 1944

Editors Note:

The Original Beale Bugle was re-printed in the 1989 edition produced by Dorothy Pankow wife of Steve Pankow, a WW2 Beale veteran. Ken Cecil provided Dorothy with his copy. It appears, the "original" would have been received in Morse code via the fleet broadcast. The radioman would have typed it on a multi-part, carbon copy communications blank for distribution. The all CAPS type font indicates it was typed on a standard communications "mill" typewriter commonly used  by radiomen. This is a valuable piece of Beale history. Perhaps there are other early Beale Bugles somewhere in our shipmates archives.
